The Post-Industrial Phenomenon 'Erotic Home Entertainment' and the Civilizing Process
In our postindustrial times SEDIs (Sexual Explicit Descriptions and Images) have become a kind of visual hallmark of western society. Nevertheless they suffer quite a low reputation, judged rather an inferior substitute than a natural expression of human sexuality. However, analyzing 'Erotic Home Entertainment' - its production, sales, and consumption, shows SEDIs as integral factor in the so-called civilizing process, or, to be more precise, the informalizing process.
